Infrastructure as a Service, what is it?

Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) is a fancy name for ‘the cloud,’ hosted data or hosted servers. Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), also known as Hardware as a Service (HaaS), is computer networking hardware such as servers, storage, switches, firewalls and data backup devices that are owned by a IT service provider (Layer 7) and located in a data center. Customers and users, such as yourself, can pay us, Layer Seven, on a monthly subscription basis versus purchasing your own hardware, which can require some pretty impressive capital investments.

Infrastructure as a Service enables you to preserve your precious capital and convert your IT costs into operational expenses. Now your IT costs are a direct expense of doing business. Oh yeah, and you don’t have to have a full-time IT Manager to take care of your network. Instead you have Layer Seven who never has a sick day, never goes on vacation and we don’t require health benefits.

How does Infrastructure as a Service Work?

As the user, you do not need to manage or maintain the underlying hardware infrastructure, but you do have a control over your specific IaaS configuration; the type of operating system, server setup, data storage and backup capacity as well as the types of software applications and more that you need to run your business efficiently.

Your local area network or the network that you have in your office will be minimal consisting of workstations, an internet router, firewall and some IP phones if you are taking advantage of our Hosted VoIP Business Phone Systems as well.

Request a Consultation Below or give us a call at: 619-473-5600 and we can help assess your existing network and get you on your way to saving money and streamlining your business.
